ELVIS PRESLEY was always very anxious before performing, according to his wife Priscilla Presley.

The King of Rock and Roll performed live many, many times. However, his wife Priscilla Presley has revealed he always struggled with the nerves before a show.

The news comes through Queen guitarist Brian May who went to see Elvis In Concert – Live on Screen last night at London’s O2.

The news comes through Queen guitarist Brian May who went to see Elvis In Concert – Live on Screen last night at London’s O2.

The show has The King’s vocals from live performances during his lifetime accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

And it turns out May got to hang out with Priscilla backstage where she opened up about Elvis.

And this included the fact that the late star struggled with anxiety before performing.

May wrote on his Instagram: “No - I never got to meet Elvis, or even see him perform live. Much to my sadness.

“But it was lovely spending some time with Priscilla, his beautiful wife, and hearing some of those Elvis stories first-hand.

“Notably, for people like us who perform, it’s always interesting to hear that everybody gets nervous before a show.

“Priscilla told me Elvis was always incredibly anxious before he went on, and I saw the same comment about Luciano Pavarotti in that excellent documentary recently.”

May added: “It’s good for us to know that even the great and powerful still feel that fear in the belly, and perhaps that’s what makes them perform to the max. Bri.”

In an unearthed interview from 1970, just two years after his big comeback special, Elvis opened up about his struggles with nerves.

The King said: “They asked me to do it and I was anxious to do some live appearances.

“Y’know, I haven’t…it had been a long time since I’d been on stage in front of anybody live.”

Elvis added: “And I was anxious to do some live appearances.

“Thought it would be a good opportunity to get in front of the people.”

This August marked 42 years since he died, the same amount of time he lived on Earth.

And just six weeks before his untimely death, the last recorded footage of Elvis was captured during a meeting with a fan. Todd Slaughter, the owner of The Official Elvis Presley
fan club UK was that fan and last year described to Express.co.uk just how unwell Elvis looked and how a makeup artist predicted The King didn’t have long left to live.

Meeting Elvis at Indianapolis airport, Todd revealed: “He was laughing his tits off.

“But you try to remember what it was all about. He was saying something funny about Colonel Parker [Elvis’ manager], not offensive or anything like that.

“Of course I did say, ‘When are you going to come [to tour the UK]?’

“But of course by that time you could tell Elvis wasn’t a well guy to say the least.”
