Hound dogs, jailhouse rockers and devils in disguise will be coming next spring to Niagara Falls, Ontario.

In large numbers, expectedly.

The Greg Frewin Theatre has been selected to host an Elvis Presley festival, set to take place on Victoria Day weekend of May 19 to 21, 2017.

While the festival is being organized by ARB Productions of Oakville, Ont., it is only one of 13 set for next year and licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, who handles the estate,
legal, marketing and branding for the late singer’s estate.

To get licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, organizers had to file a thick application, be vetted and pay the Memphis-based organization an $8,000 upfront fee.

The Niagara Falls festival comes in the same year that will mark the 40th anniversary of Presley’s death.

Given the continuing popularity of Elvis Presley and the 40th anniversary celebrations planned by Elvis Presley Enterprises, the Niagara Falls festival is expected to attract several
thousand visitors to Niagara Falls on what is typically a busy weekend in that city.

Tony Busseri, ARB co-founder, said he expects the festival to attract between 3,000 and 5,000 people to Niagara Falls.

Busseri said he hopes to make it an annual event in Niagara Falls.

“I see this as only the beginning,” Busseri said. “The potential of bringing together Niagara Falls and the Elvis Presley brand is staggering. The reason we brought this to Niagara
Falls is fairly obvious.”

Event highlights include memorabilia displays, most of which will be provided by the Presley estate.

Vendors will be selling Presley items ranging from CDs and t-shirts to replicas of stage costumes worn by Presley.

Each day will carry an Presley theme beginning with “The Story of Elvis” on May 19, “The Killer (Jerry Lee Lewis) and the King” on May 20, and acoustic “Memphis Gospel Hour”
on May 21.

The big attraction is apparently an Elvis impersonator contest (why is anyone's guess) where the winner will be invited to a national competition at Graceland in August during
“Elvis Week.”
