DID TECHNICAL PROBLEMS HIT ON TOUR? - With all the conflicting reports from
the One Night Only screening of the new remastered version of 'Elvis On Tour' there had to be
an explanation...And now it seems there is?
Brian Quinn contacted me to say that some cinema's have the capability to digitally download
the new version, while others were sent some old print with the new opening added on. Here
is an email from one fan..."From what a theater manager told me this broadcast was on their
one screen that could show this. I'm not a high tech guy (and neither was he) but the theater
apparently had to have certain signal receiving equipment to get the broadcast. The theater
got this signal before the broadcast and somehow recorded/downloaded it (maybe a disc is
made afterward?) for the 7pm viewing. I gather many theaters are not set up for broadcasts
such as this."
So there we have it, at last an answer to the huge variations of opinions from fans across
America. Of course the next question is if a cinema did not have the capability to download
the new version, why did they advertise it as such?

OPINIONS DIFFER WITH 'ELVIS ON TOUR' - As you may have read here on E.E.R
we have two first hand reports from our listeners from 2 different parts of America. One from
Illinois and the other from New York City and both have reported on how poor the whole set
up for the film was. But if you read comments of the "official" website, there is no such bad
reports to be seen. Remember, one of our listeners reported, "The movie came on with low
sound and a VHS quality print. You could hardly hear Elvis in the backstage or off stage
segments". And, "Elvis' powder blue suit looked Green in most scenes and his gospel
section Yellowish/gold scarf appeared Pink. To sum it up in a nutshell it would have looked
and sounded better on your own TV at home".
But on the EPE site we are informed that "I just got back from watching it. All I can say is OMG,
it was amazing the sound the quality it was awesome."... Talk about a vast difference and I
cannot help but wonder if some theatres were sent the wrong print? Anyway, if you missed
this one night only event and you are in Memphis for Elvis Week, you can see it on August 14
at 8:00 p.m at The Orpheum Theater. EPE are asking for fans to dress in 1970s style outfits,
sounds like it could be a horrible jumpsuit fest to me. Plus EPE are promising
"never-before-seen footage and lots of surprises"? Let's see if they deliver the promise for
this one?

ANOTHER BAD REVIEW FOR ON TOUR EVENT - Here we have another scathing
review of the 'One Night Only' screening of 'Elvis On Tour'. They promised the fans a newly
remastered version of the movie with great picture quality and superior sound plus never
before seen footage? In this, the second report from a second venue (this time New York) we
hear how not only was the picture and sound worse than most VHS tapes but it was in fact
ELVIN On Tour that was showing? Read it all

NEW ELVIS SINGLE - E.E.R premiered this new single on the
Elvis Request Show a few weeks ago.
'You Give Me Fever' is produced and co-written by Agostino Carollo
Spankox, who in 2008 also produced the third official Presley’s
remix released by Sony Music, Baby Let’s Play House.
Elvis Presley’s 'You Give Me Fever' is scheduled to be released on
Aug. 4, 2010 as exclusive digital download from the Apple iTunes
Store and on CD single on Aug.16, 2010.
The CD edition of the single (available as deluxe digipack edition)
will include three versions of the song: a radio edit, an extended
mix and a ringtone version.
After it's first airing on E.E.R, the rap/remix was greeted with poor
reviews and even had some fans asking for it to "Never be played
again", and since then E.E.R has not received a single request for
the song.

MISSING SONGS NOT MISSING - As reported earlier, Elvis Matters made a note that
'Lets Forget About The Stars' was missing from the 'Complete Elvis Presley Masters' set. And
upon looking through myself, I found 'Big Boots' was also missing. I hoped that this was just
an oversight and now it seems that indeed was.
Brian Quinn writes to confirm that "The set is advertised as containing 814 tracks, including
711 lifetime masters and 103 best of the outtakes, etc. Only, 812 are listed on the website so
who ever created the list accidentally omitted these two tracks."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 03rd
£630 SET NOT COMPLETE? - Elvis Matters report that the newly announced collectors
set 'The Complete Elvis Presley Masters' with an massive price of almost £630 is missing a
song? They point out that the master of 'Lets Forget About The Stars' is NOT included on the
collection.
Actually, there are TWO songs missing from the track listing. 'Lets Forget About The Stars' on
CD 16 next to the song 'Charro' and 'Big Boots' which should be on CD 5 with the other 'G.I.
Blues' recordings. Hopefully this is simply a typo on the site otherwise this will be a very
expensive screw up.
EM also report that missing from the collection is the entire 'Elvis In Concert' album released
in 1977 and also the 'Live On Stage In Memphis' album is only the original album track listing
and does not include the extra songs which were released on the FTD release of the album.
The reason EIC is not included on the set and the Memphis concert is only the original album
is because this collection is only supposed to have all the studio and live masters released
by RCA during Elvis' lifetime? But saying this, the set does include 'Blue Hawaii', 'Ku-U-I-Po'
'No More', 'Hawaiian Wedding Song' and 'Early Mornin' Rain', all recorded after the Aloha
show on January 14th 1973 which were not issued during Elvis' lifetime. And so this new
high priced Elvis collection seems to be somewhat inconsistent with what it is supposed to
be all about!

ELVIS MERCHANDISE RAID IN L.A. - In a major sting operation in Los Angeles, Elvis
Presley Enterprises (EPE) has filed charges and is actively working with the Los Angeles
Sheriff's Department who have recently conducted raids and have uncovered a major bootleg
and fraudulent product operations of unauthorized Elvis Presley merchandise.
Further details cannot be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation, but EPE is
making it very clear that be it back room businesses, suburban garages, or via the Internet,
they will not tolerate the gross and illegal abuse of the name, image and likeness of Elvis
Presley.

VIVA ELVIS THE ALBUM DELAY? - November will see two major album releases that
could impact on the sales of ''Viva Elvis - The Album', one being by 'Take That' and the other
by Michael Jackson. While it is highly unlikely that the Jackson Album will coincide with the
release of ''Viva Elvis' (both are Sony artists). If the Take That album is released at the same
time as ''Viva Elvis', then Sony may well change the release date from 8th November.
We can only hope that the Take That album is released later in November to give Elvis a
chance of another number album in the UK.

ELVIS' 75th BIRTHDAY COLLECTION - Being released is a box set of Elvis movies
which in this article are pointed out as being "the exact same discs that Fox and MGM have
released over years separately". While this collection is something for those fans who don't
yet own the 7 movies included, the writer points out that by not bothering to have any bonus
features means this is " just a slap-dash compilation of otherwise unrelated and previously
released DVDs, Fox probably felt it was not worth the effort. It’s not a very nice way to
celebrate a birthday in my book, especially Elvis’ birthday". Here! Here! Read the review

THE COMPLETE MASTERS - As reported last month, SONY Music will be releasing a
box set of the complete Elvis Masters for the first time in one huge collection.
Now the details are available and an official website has been set up. The limited edition set
of just 1000 copies will set you back a whopping £628.18 ($849.86) PLUS shipping.
To me, the set price is ridiculously high and will price out most of the hardcore Elvis fans who
would love to own this collection. Of course this is just the FIRST run and a cheaper, non
limited edition version will be released later in the year no doubt, but I have a feeling, even
that non limited edition version will be a very high asking price.
You can enlarge the image below by clicking on them. And below these is the opening text on
the official website and a link to the site which includes images of the set and a video.

ROYALTY VISIT THE KINGS PALACE - Prince Albert of Monaco, son of the late
actress Grace Kelly, and fiancé Charlene Wittstock are vacationing in the United States this
week and paid a visit to Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion today.
During their tour, they also paid their respects to Presley at his grave located in Graceland’s
Meditation Garden. Prior to the tour of Graceland, the couple was treated to a traditional
Southern meal which included Bar-B-Q, as Memphis is known as the BBQ capital of the
world.
When asked about why Memphis and Graceland were selected as part of the itinerary for an
American vacation tour, Prince Albert of Monaco commented, “If you’re on a summer holiday,
you’ve got to come at this time of year. I’ve always wanted to come to Graceland. Charlene
and my friends wanted to be here today for this visit, Elvis touched our lives as well and the
lives of so many people. We wanted to pay our respects and see what this place was all
about.”
The Prince’s marriage to Wittstock next summer will be the first of a sitting prince since
Albert's father, Rainier III, married actress Grace Kelly in 1956. The prince and his princess-
to-be, an Olympic swimmer from South Africa, will wed in July of 2011 in a ceremony that will
reportedly take place inside the Prince's 235-room palace.
Following the tour of Graceland, Prince Albert of Monaco went on to praise Elvis for his
contributions to the entertainment industry and charitable causes, “He was an extraordinary
figure of his time and our time. His legacy was tremendous in terms of the music he created,
his films, and in terms of him as an entertainment personality. The generosity that he
showed toward others is simply remarkable and I think it’s these aspects of his character,
his persona, that make him such a special person.”
Over the years Graceland has played host to a variety of music and film celebrities along with
international newsmakers such as a sitting U. S. President, the Prime Minister of Japan, and
now a Prince along with his future Princess. See pictures here

CHICAGO SHOWS ON FTD - Two shows that Elvis performed in Chicago, Illinois will be
released on the FTD label says Ernst Jorgensen. Elvis Matters say Ernst confirmed that
shows from October 14th 1976 (8:30pm) & October 15th 1976 (8:30pm) which were at the
Chicago Stadium will be available in the fall.
Here is a description of the shows: "When Elvis stepped on stage Thursday night at the
Chicago Stadium, the audience was in for a pleasant surprise. In a phone conversation with
Red West, Elvis revealed that his painful colon condition had gone into remission. Thanks to
this fortuitous circumstance, Elvis looked better than he had for several years. He was
decked out in his Inca Gold Leaf suit, which had not been worn since 1974. And he gave a far
better show than he had on earlier dates that year. This time he interacted with his audience
a lot more, treating the proceedings with far less formality. The fans certainly enjoyed the
chance to see a little bit more of his personality.

ELVIS FOREVER LINE UP - News just in is a line up
of "stars" who will be performing at the 'ELVIS FOREVER'

music personalities.
The Elvis Forever Line Up:
Scouting For Girls, Imelda May, The Magnets, Craig David,
Fran Healey (from Travis), Tony Hadley, Marti Pellow,

EUROPEAN TOUR - The ‘Original Elvis Tribute’ show
will be returning in May ‘11, and we will have several
surprises for the European fans. We are proud to
announce that legendary keyboard player BOBBY WOOD
will be joining us this time. No doubt most of you already
know that he was an integral part of the ‘American Sound
Studios’ band, with whom Elvis recorded his finest
albums FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS and BACK IN
MEMPHIS, as well as hit-singles like “Suspicious Minds”,

'In The Ghetto”, “Kentucky Rain” and “Don’t Cry Daddy”. It’s also quite an honour for us that
Mr. Wood will be bringing his old buddy & ‘American Sound Studios’ associate, JOHNNY
CHRISTOPHER. Johnny played rhythm guitar for Elvis during the STAX sessions in ’73, and
also wrote / co-wrote songs for him like “Always On My Mind”, “Mama Liked The Roses”
(Johnny remembers Elvis crying when he first heard this song) and “If You Talk In Your
Sleep”. Johnny Christopher will be singing his own songs at the shows, just like he did on
the original demos for Elvis. These shows will mark the first time ever that he performs at an
Elvis show, and it will also be his first visit to Europe. This time, the ‘Original Elvis Tribute’ will
have a special Memphis ’69 / Stax ’73 theme, and we all believe that this is going to be our
most exciting tour yet.
All the favorites from this year’s show will be there too, including the phenomenal ROBERT
WASHINGTON, one of the world’s best Elvis sound-a-likes, the lovely SUE MORENO, who
delighted audiences with a.o. her version of “Fever”, and guitar wizard CHRIS CASELLO,
whose guitar picking is so amazing, that people come to the concerts just to see his fretwork.
A true dream-line up, and the ultimate tribute to the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll. For booking a show

IMPS & POTATO'S IN MEMPHIS - It's Elvis Week and it seems that the whole event is
geared to highlight IMPS and Potato's? If you pay a visit to the official Elvis website and their
Elvis Week photo gallery, you will find 15 photos, 11 are of IMPS, 2 are of people holding the
Elvis Mr Potato Head. The remaining 2 are of a child in the early stages of IMPhood and the
final one is of a couple of fans getting wine....no doubt to calm their nerves after seeing all the
IMPS and potato's?
So what of IMPS? Well, we have that idiot who is running for governor on Arkansas, a novelty
publicity stunt but at the expense of Elvis...Thanks to the idiotic ways of this individual, Elvis'
image is made a mockery once again. I was informed that the three hosts of the Fox News
channel's 'Fox and Friends' made a joke of Elvis by putting on those cheap plastic Elvis
glasses with attached sideburns and made the usual stupid Elvis jokes while giving the story.
Once again, Elvis is turned into a joke because of some IMP seeking the limelight.
Here's one you may not believe, an IMP was due to perform in Memphis but the show at the
Shell was called off due to the rain, but hang on...as way of compensation, fans were invited
backstage to get their photo taken with the IMP and to get his autograph! Now then, things
really are getting silly!
Onto the Elvis Mr Potato Head...In a recent press release regarding a police raid on bootleg
Elvis products, EPE stated they, "will not tolerate the gross and illegal abuse of the name,
image and likeness of Elvis Presley." They should have just said illegal because the gross
abuse of Elvis' image and likeness is issuing his name and face on a frickin POTATO!!!!
And the worst thing is this....Apparently the Elvis potato is selling so fast that, "an emergency
shipment" is being sent to Memphis by the manufacturer but until then, shops are limiting
purchase to two per customer....OMG, it just keeps getting worse!

REMEMBER THE KING WITH MUSIC - Online now is this really nice article. "If Elvis
Presley were alive today, he would be 75 years old. And though he would certainly be in his
golden years, there is a chance that he still might be giving concerts, and that his golden
voice - the best rock music has ever heard - would still be booming through arenas. Perhaps
he would still even be recording new music, which people like Sinatra did well into their
seventies. In fact, Sinatra celebrated his 75th year with a national tour." Read on here

JOHN WILKINSON UPDATE - As reported last month, John was
due in hospital on August 2nd for a P.E.T scan which would hopefully
show the tumour has gone away. But the actual results would not be
known until on or around August 11th.
John had a good report back from the tests and his blood work is at a
good level and the P.E.T scan did not show any activity, the area is still
swollen from the radiation so the doctors could not see it very well, but
they are not concerned, which is great news..
John is still having issues with not having a colon and they continue to
work on which foods work and which ones cause him problems, but
he is looking very well and sends his love and thanks to the listeners
of Elvis Express Radio around the world.

UNSEEN ON TOUR FOOTAGE - First was the one night only
event and then the long awaited DVD release of 'Elvis On Tour'.
With both of these events fans were left feeling cheated at getting
no new footage from the making of the movie.
One E.E.R listener has sent me an email with information that the
Memphis screening of the film (screened Saturday 14th) included
15 minutes of never before seen footage from Elvis in rehearsal

wearing the blue outfit with black criss-cross pattern (as pictured). I am told security was so
tight at the screening with guards lining the aisles to prevent any photos of filming taking
place.
This news leaves the question of why this stuff was not included as bonus footage on the
DVD / Blu-Ray release giving EVERY fan the opportunity to enjoy this stuff and not just a few
lucky enough to be able to afford a trip to Memphis and then the extra $35 to $89 to see it
while there? This news does leave me as a fan feeling a little cheated now that I know they
did restore this footage and COULD have allowed us all to share in it. But instead we are
treated to a DVD release with nothing extra and now with the knowledge that the powers that
be will no doubt be releasing 'Elvis On Tour' AGAIN in 2012 with the footage we should have
got now, in 2010. (Thanks to E.E.R listener Martin Collins for the news).

MARTY'S ELVIS THE RECORD MAGAZINES - Just listed on ebay is Marty Lacker's
own personal copies of the vintage magazine, 'Elvis The Record'.
Here is the description from the ebay listing:
This is a much sought after collectors item that was extremely popular from early 1979 to
early 1981 when Marty Lacker and Billy Smith decided to write an exclusive magazine for Elvis
fans called Elvis The Record.
The issues were chock full of inside stories, interviews and pictures, from Billy and Marty as
well as other members of the Memphis Mafia and others connected to Elvis. They also set
the record straight on other people’s writings, documentaries and false claims about Elvis.
Marty and Billy and others related their personal stories about all their years with Elvis.
This offering consists of a special custom made, heavy duty brown binder made especially to
hold the various issues of the magazine and is embossed on the cover with Elvis The
Record in gold lettering. There are 8 issues in all dated from early ’79 to early ’81. Marty and
Billy had to stop printing the magazine as it had begun to take up time away from their regular
work back then.
It includes the most sought after individual issue dated August, ’79 that was a special
Memorial issue of the magazine. At one time, after they stopped printing the magazine, Marty
was offered $250 just for that issue from someone who had not subscribed to the magazine.
This set of magazines and issues are Marty’s personal copies and he has decided to make
it available to an interested Elvis fan. If the buyer desires, Marty will autograph one or all the
issues. As an Elvis fan this will make a great, rare addition to your collection.
The starting bid for those interested and with some spare cash is $800.00 (£510.00) Listing

RIAA DVD CERTIFICATIONS - During Elvis Week, Elvis was awarded new certifications

At the same time, the award for the '68 Comeback Special (Special Edition)' was announced
as Multi-Platinum status. Again this should have been specified at 2X Multi-Platinum.

SUSPICIOUS MINDS BLOWS THE MIND - Another of our listeners was in Memphis
and attended the Conversations on Elvis event at the 'Orpheum theatre'. Here is what Colin
said; "I was pretty much dreading the release of this album after hearing snippets on your
show and on you tube, you know what I'm talking about, duets, Elvis' voice being drowned out
etc. Then they hit me with what was the most amazing sound I have heard in a long, long
time. They played 'Suspicious Minds' off the album.....Lee, it was amazing...of course your,
never gonna beat the original, but! It was just Elvis, as clear as anything with a fantastic new
arrangement. It blew me away. Now I can't wait for this release. They mentioned that they
were determined to make this album a winner and didn't want anybody recording the song for
you tube etc. They wanted it to be like the old days when you bought an Elvis album and put it
on the decks and you heard songs for the first time. You remember that feeling. Well thats
how I felt when I heard this. They placed security in the aisles so nobody could record it and I
tell you Lee I cant wait for this album".

NEW UK TV CHANNEL FEATURES ELVIS - New digital television channel Vintage TV
has signed a deal with Getty Images to use some of its 360,000 still images and 8,000
hours of video content.
The Getty archive will be incorporated by Vintage TV into 500 new music videos it is creating
for songs that were recorded before the video age, as well as other original content.
Launching on Wednesday 1 September, the broadcaster is positioning itself as the first
music channel dedicated to the so-called "vintage age" from the 1940s to the 1980s, playing
songs by Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones
Vintage TV will broadcast specially created videos for songs in the charts prior to 1976,
before the era of promotional videos. They include Not Fade Away by the Rolling Stones,
featuring classic archive footage of the band, and If I Can Dream by Elvis Presley, played
across footage of Martin Luther King's fight for racial equality.
Vintage TV, whose other archive partners include the BBC, ITN, Eagle Rock Entertainment
and DCD Rights, will also broadcast concerts and documentaries.

The EPE DJ: When EPE are not IMPing around there is 'Club Elvis' which charge fans $25 for
the privilege of listening to Elvis music through a DJ and the right to buy their own drinks.
Colin went to the 'Club Elvis' event and told me "I asked for 'Fun In Acapulco' he (the DJ)
looked at me all stupid and told me 'Thats was a movie', I said yes I would like the song
please. He laughed and said again 'Its a movie'. I just shook my head and walked away".
Candlelight Vigil: Here is a couple of posts from Colin' facebook page regarding the vigil...
1 - Heading out to do what I came to Memphis to do, pay my respects to Elvis at the
candlelight vigil.
2 - Payed my respects to Elvis. But to all you IMPS out there who turned up at the Graceland
gates dressed as Elvis. YOU ARE AN F...ING DISGRACE, posing for photos. Its so
disrespectful at the home of the King. Save it for your fake shows you bunch of idiots.
Colin also told me, "Lee, they were everywhere, I was even approached by one for a photo. I
won't tell you what i said or did. but he will never ask me again."
There was only and will ever only be one Elvis Presley. If you want to dress as Elvis on stage
or dress as Elvis as if he is in rehearsal of TTWII then do so in your own home or whatever,
but show some respect to the memory of Elvis and dress in normal clothes when visiting the
man's home and especially when you pay respects at his grave.

MARTY' ELVIS MAGAZINE COLLECTION - Being one of the closest friends of Elvis
Presley, Marty has been sent newspapers and magazines from Elvis fan club leaders around
the world. Now Marty is offering a fan the chance to buy those magazines from him. Below is
from the ebay description:
Through the years since Elvis Presley’s death, Marty Lacker, who was Elvis’ right hand man
for a number of years and the co-best man at Elvis’ wedding has conversed with many fans
online in various forums and via email. Marty has always graciously answered fans
questions about the 20 years he was close to Elvis and because of that accessibility online
many fans have been sending Marty various publications and lots of news clippings about
Elvis.
After reading them all, instead of throwing them away, for whatever reason, Marty has always
just tossed them in a big box in his closet and basically has forgotten about them, that is until
now. Out of necessity he decided the other night to clean those boxes out and free up some
closet space. There are many publications and news clippings and every one of them
features stories and great pictures about Elvis and his life. They are dated from the 80’s
through the 90’s and the beginning of the 2000’s. In addition, most of them feature Elvis on
the front cover in beautiful color and some are Black and White. Marty wants to get rid of them
as he has had them long enough and instead of throwing them in the away, he has decided
to offer them here on eBay so that some Elvis fan can enjoy this great collection. There are
probably many of them that most of you have never seen or read. Go to the ebay listing

MARTY ON ELVIS WEEK IMPS - In response to the news item yesterday about the
IMPS that congregated at Elvis Week and even dressed in their Elvis clothes for the vigil,
Elvis' longtime friend, Marty Lacker shared his thoughts...
"That report on EER about impersonators wearing jumpsuits at the Vigil makes my stomach
turn and even more disgusted and disappointed in EPE.
Those ass-clowns should be barred from the vigil if they wear a jumpsuit! It's enough that the
biggest emphasis is being placed on Elvis Week by EPE is the idiotic Impersonator Contest
and shows and it just fortifies my belief that neither Priscilla nor Lisa care about Elvis'
memory and legacy.
These ass-clowns in their dumbass jumpsuits have made the media look at Elvis as a
cartoon character".

IMPS AT THE CANDLELIGHT VIGIL - E.E.R listener Colin P contacted me because he
wanted to share his anger and disgust at the way IMPS thought nothing of dressing us Elvis
on the candlelight vigil. Dressing as Elvis in casual dress or jumpsuit while walking around
Memphis is bad enough, but to do it while walking around Graceland or even worse on the
vigil is downright disrespectful. Colin said "There was a list of events and the IMPS meet and
greet event said sold out. I couldnt believe it".

HIT SONGWRITER DIES - Songwriter George David Weiss,
who helped write Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" and
Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World," passed away from
natural causes yesterday at his home in Oldwick, New Jersey at
the age of 89.
Elvis recorded 'Can't Help Falling In Love' on March 23rd 1960 for
the movie, 'Blue Hawaii'. The song became one of Elvis' most well
known songs which he would use to close almost all of his shows
through the 1970's. Beyond writing Elvis' 1960 hit, Weiss also had his songs performed by
the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, Tom Jones and
Janis Joplin. Weiss also collaborated on several Broadway musicals and wrote film scores.

section, and this time we get a great one from a listener who lifts the lid on one of the most
ridiculous and pathetic claims ever from an Elvis IMP. Marty does not pull any punches on his
reply to this one and I just want to thank Chad for brining this outrageous claim to the Ask
Marty section so that he can tell it how it is and was Check out this new addition and read

ELVIS LOOSES OUT ON MAJOR POLL - A while back, E.E.R pushed for fans to vote
for Elvis in a major poll by CNN to find the number one global music icon. Well, sadly Elvis
has lost out to the self titled King of Pop Michael Jackson who topped the poll with 100,000
votes. The acts who made up the rest of the top 5 were The Beatles, Leslie Cheung, Elvis
Presley and Bob Marley.
To add insult to injury the VH1's '100 Greatest Music Artists of All Time' list was topped by
The Beatles with Dylan second and Jackson third. Elvis came in at a disappointing EIGHTH
place behind Jimi Hendrix (6th) and Prince (7th). Many thanks to Brian Quinn.

No. 72 following a direct-response TV advertising campaign kicked into high-gear. It went
from selling a negligible number the week previous to 6,000 this week.

LAST CHANCE FOR MARTY' MAGS - On ebay now is the last chance to own Marty
Lacker's personal copies of the vintage 'Elvis The Record' magazines. Dating from the late
70's to the early 80's, the issues were chock full of inside stories, interviews and pictures,
from Billy and Marty as well as other members of the Memphis Mafia and others connected to
Elvis. They also set the record straight on other people’s writings, documentaries and false
claims about Elvis. Marty and Billy and others related their personal stories about all their
years with Elvis.
The offering consists of a special custom made, heavy duty brown binder made especially to
hold the various issues of the magazine and is embossed on the cover with Elvis The
Record in gold lettering. There are 9 issues in all dated from early ’79 to early ’81. Marty and
Billy had to stop printing the magazine as it had begun to take up time away from their regular
work back then.
This is the final time that Marty will be offering these magazine and if this final offering does
not sell then anyone interested can make Marty a fair offer. Go to the ebay listing

FAKES IN MEMPHIS - Elvis Week in Memphis saw many wanna-be's dressed up in their
Elvis clothes or Elvis Jumpsuits and if all these fakes were not enough it seems that there
were the odd fake Elvis items on sale ready to rip off fans seeking those vintage items that
were around when Elvis was.
These hats were being sold at a sales
area in a Motel in Memphis by an old man
for $118.99 (£77.00 approx).
The seller had a big photo up beside
them from TTWII and was telling people
that these were the same hats seen in
that movie?.
Now then, for 40 year old Styrofoam hats,
these are in amazing condition but as my
source points out, it's not just the outer looks that give the game away that show these hats
are modern knock offs.
"These new hats had three circles inside impressed in them...But the old ones had just one
circle and of course the white color is aged. Also, the bands were not glued on.
Do you know who was selling these? Do you know someone who bought one of these in
Memphis? If you do then let them know so that they can try to get their money back fast.

ORIGINAL TRIBUTE TOUR 2011 - The ‘Original
Elvis Tribute’ show will be returning in May ‘11, and has
several surprises for the European fans. Bobby Wood will
be joining the band this time. No doubt most of you
already know that he was an integral part of the ‘American
Sound Studios’ band, with whom Elvis recorded his finest
albums FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS and BACK IN
MEMPHIS, as well as hit-singles like “Suspicious Minds”,
“In The Ghetto”, “Kentucky Rain” and “Don’t Cry Daddy”.
Mr. Wood will be bringing his old buddy & ‘American
Sound Studios’ associate, Johnny Christopher. Johnny
played rhythm guitar for Elvis during the Stax sessions in ’
73, and also wrote / co-wrote songs for him like “Always
On My Mind”, “Mama Liked The Roses” (Johnny
remembers Elvis crying when he first heard this song)
and “If You Talk In Your Sleep”.

Johnny Christopher will be singing his own songs at the shows, just like he did on the
original demos for Elvis. These shows will mark the first time ever that he performs at an
Elvis show, and it will also be his first visit to Europe. This time, the ‘Original Elvis Tribute’ will
have a special Memphis ’69 / Stax ’73 theme, and this may be the most exciting tour yet. For
