MY TRIBUTE TO ELVIS
By Ida Ritter
I could not miss this opportunity to contribute with my thoughts and remembrances to Elvis on the 75th
anniversary of his birth.

His legacy was, and is unparallelled...That humble man from Tupelo, Mississippi that one day walked into
Sun Studios and went on to become one of those legends that only comes once in a very long time.

His incredible voice never abandoned him right up until the end...he proved that when he sat at the piano
and performed 'Unchained Melody' for the audience who were so luckily to be able to see him do so.

He did not make it to the top ten of the Madison Square Garden list....but does it really matter?
His shows were all sold out and he left the arena still leaving many that could not attend any of the shows,
and others still anxious to continue to listen to him or to catch a glance at him.

It does not matter that his own country did not give him the recognition he deserved or that an awards were
given to him in his dressing room instead of elsewhere, but that put this country to shame not him or his
fans....his talent was never understood or recognised, while he was alive, but he continued to perform as
only he could do, taking every song and making it his own with his unique style that never found a match.

He left us his music, his songs, his charisma and his devotion towards his fans that always received his love
and attention, never neglecting them, he stood firm and never changed his ideas, the way he dressed, or
the way he combed his hair whether the world like it or not, and respected those wishes of others

What else could I say but to say that I am one of those lucky fans that got to see him and was devastated when I found out news of his passing, but to the
world he still here and for us fans he is still touching us with his voice and his music, so in reality he never left the building.

Thanks Elvis Presley for your legacy and all you left us.
